History
The tradition of giving silverware for a wedding has its roots in the distant past. Even in ancient Russia, a mandatory element of the dowry of the Grand Duchesses were silverware and silverware sets. In the XVII-XIX centuries, it was rare for a landowner's or nobleman's wedding to go without silverware as a wedding gift.
